A whole house for $25,000, if you can move it
Cheaper than a used car, if you happen to own somewhere to put it.

Someone is giving away a Fairfield cottage, more or less. The 935-square-foot home has two bedrooms and one bathroom, and is listed at $25,000 as a candidate for relocation rather than demolition.
The number that changes the arithmetic is the moving quote: roughly $75,000 to haul it somewhere else in Greater Victoria, or about $115,000 if a barge is involved. That is before site preparation and servicing at the destination.
So the sticker is $25,000 for a two-bedroom house in one of the priciest corners of the country. The rest is logistics — and a lot for it to stand on.
